Claudia Otero is the Community Outreach Lead for Salinas Valley Health where she manages physician marketing campaigns and special communication projects. Claudia also manages, coordinates and hosts bilingual healthcare events, virtual presentations, produces patient testimonial videos, co-produces podcasts and oversees Spanish language web, social media content and patient material.
Claudia is an Emmy Award winning TV news producer. Prior to starting her career in healthcare, Claudia spent more than a decade working as a TV news anchor, reporter and producer at local Univision, CBS, Fox and Telemundo TV news affiliate stations.
Claudia earned her bachelor’s degree in English/Communications from Emmanuel College and her master’s degree in Broadcast Journalism from Emerson College. Claudia enjoys giving back to her community and currently serves as social media lead for the local chapter of the American Cancer Society’s Celebration of Life Fashion Show annual fundraiser. Until recently, Claudia volunteered her time as Community Outreach Coordinator for the California International Airshow Salinas. In that leadership role, she managed and extensively grew the Airshow’s Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) program for children.
In her free time, Claudia likes to travel and visit museums. She also enjoys musical theater, reading and trying out new restaurants with her life partner Greg. Claudia is a proud mom of a sweet, intelligent, and very stubborn Shih Tzu named Boston.
