For more than 20 of those years Steve has worked extensively in the healthcare industry, with hospitals and healthcare systems, nonprofits and foundations, wellness, positive aging, and medical specialties that include cardiology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, Alzheimer’s and dementia, prostate cancer, otolaryngology and others. In 1997, Steve started up the Sarasota-based marketing communications agency, Stephen A. Smith & Associates. He launched Consonant Custom Media in 2010 to specialize in original content and storytelling for healthcare.
Steve has received numerous ADDY awards in recognition of creative excellence (that’s where the rebellious side comes in handy), as well as the Advertising Federation’s “Ad Man of the Year” award (that was mostly the reliable side).
